The tools used to activate the seed nodes will be compiled and included in the social contagion toolkit.

Activation tools must combine insights from models of behaviour change with methods of participatory design to activate the seed households to adopt sustainable energy systems. Both passive (nudging) and active engagement tools can be designed but only active tools enable the continuation of the change after the triggers are removed from the context or the person moves away from the context. These more active interventions are preferred, e.g. data visualization tools (providing insights into the current energy source, leakage or behaviour) to make people aware of the change needed, or decision-making tools that help municipalities in identifying the best intervention strategy.
