Specific households (seed nodes) will be identified whose actions may influence others to act.
In the first stage of the project, we map the households’ social network using data collected from survey questionnaires. A standardized dual-mode postal / e-mail survey is set out in the experimental sites: social housing rental flats in the south-east of Haarlem and homeowners in Zeist. Furthermore, the survey is designed to measure environmental attitudes, environmental behaviour, incentives, and socio-demographics, including household composition and the respondent’s gender, age, religion, education, and a rough indication of income. We will triangulate these quantitative measures of social network tie strength with qualitative measures acquired context mapping, user research and role-play.
